Robert Balzebre
Principal at Balzebre Investments in Miami, Florida, United States
Robert Balzebre is a Miami-based real-estate investor, hotel owner, and former real-estate attorney with more than two decades of experience in commercial development, hospitality operations, and complex property transactions. He is the Principal of Balzebre Investments, a privately held real-estate and hospitality investment firm specializing in long-term, value-add investments across hotels, retail centers, mixed-use sites, and residential assets in multiple states.
Robert began his career practicing real-estate law at Russo and Baker PA after earning his Juris Doctor in 1992. He spent four years handling commercial transactions and real-estate mergers before transitioning into full-time development work. His early development projects centered on Miami’s South Beach, where he acquired historic Art Deco apartment buildings and undertook complete renovations. He converted these properties into condominiums for sale and successfully completed six development projects, including The Arcadia, The Maritime, and The Santana.
Robert later acquired the Surfcomber Hotel on Collins Avenue and led a full-scale renovation and repositioning of the property, transforming it into a four-star boutique hotel. His work involved design oversight, construction management, capital structuring, and strategic brand repositioning.
Alongside his personal development projects, Robert also became involved in his family’s real-estate business. He played a central role in repositioning aging properties within the family portfolio by securing improved entitlement rights, executing full-scale renovations, and putting new management teams in place. His efforts increased asset performance and long-term value across the portfolio.
Through Balzebre Investments, Robert now oversees a diversified real-estate portfolio that includes oceanfront hotels, large-scale retail properties, multifamily communities, and mixed-use development sites in markets such as Miami, Vero Beach, Coral Gables, South Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Louisiana. He manages both company-owned assets and joint-venture projects, focusing on long-term cash flow, conservative leverage, and reinvestment strategies that strengthen property value.
Robert has held several civic and cultural roles, including serving on the United Way Youth Council and participating in the Tocqueville Society through ongoing philanthropic involvement. He also served on the board of Art Center South Florida.
He studied International Law at Tulane University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and English from Connecticut College.
Robert’s professional interests include real-estate development, hospitality operations, community engagement, and architectural design. He continues to guide the long-term strategy of Balzebre Investments with a focus on responsible growth, disciplined analysis, and hands-on asset management.
